Cobalt Ontario

Here is a photo to go with Jim's posting of the Generator. This is the inside of the plant at Cobalt Ontario. The Air Plant is billed as the Eighth Wonder of the World while Cobalt has been declared the most historic town in Ontario.

The link here http://www.cobalt.ca/ragged_chutes.htm will give your readers more information on the wonders of the project. The original photo's shown are in my possession. I have over 90 scanned into my computer from C.H. Taylor's album. Many are rare shots of the various mining companies and I also have some of the Silver Sidewalk which few people, if any, have ever seen.

The plant can also be used to generate electricity. The head of Engineering at the University of Akron, OH is proposing building a fully functional replica of the plant.

Thanks for sending this interesting piece, Bob
