Historical Pics from Bob H.

Every time I look at these pictures from the past I am in awe of our ancestors and their ingenuity, fortitude and energy. We are so spoilt today with high tech equipment that we don't understand what they endured to accomplish so much in such a short time.

The first picture is of the Ainsworth BC Air Plant circa 1895. Note the pipeline fabricated from individual pieces of oak and barrel strapping to form each length. Now look at the terrain and the distances that the pipe runs. Incredible workmanship.

The second is Cobalt Ontario circa 1908. The seamless 20" pipe is now available from Germany. The logistics alone are mind boggling to me, never mind the youth of today. They could not do it.

And to think that Cobalt operated up to the late 1980's and required only two shutdowns during that period is an even greater testament to our ancestors technical ability, skills and attention to detail.
