Hi Marty,
Just got back from a week in Mtl packing up my late Mother-in-law and Brother-in-laws home. As you know I had supper with Ivan and Alan Houle at Magnan's. Unfortunately it is now a tourist trap and the prices have gone out of sight. Too bad.
Boy a lot of stuff passes thru the blog in a week or so.
A few contributions based on what I have read so far...
1) It was really great to see the Bowling pic of my mom. The gentleman in the front row beside Percy was Jean ??, a friend of Phylis Moore, they used to bowl in quite a few different leagues back then.
2) Doc Perras used to work at the Country Club of Montreal during the summer( Raking Sand Traps). A lot of the CCM crew came from the Park...Pop Phillips, Abbey Phillips, The Couves Brothers, George Vine Sr and a guy we called " Johnny Two Putt". He cut the greens and could get down in 2 putts ( or Less) from any position on any green.I forget the original greens keeper but I remember Frank T. Grant became greens keeper after he retired as Pro and was replaced by Ben McCallum whom I saw last summer in Dundas ON playing in the Super Seniors Group in the Senior Canadian Championships.
3) The lady beside Freddy Goodall in Bev's Picture was Susan Young who is / was married to Freddy.
4) Back in the 80's when we lived in Kanata we used to go for lunch at a Smoked Meat restaurant in Bell's Corner's. It was run by Dave Smith of " The Place Next Door " on Rideau St. One day in there I ran into Sam Stone and we discussed the Park etc. It was great to hear he is still in the area.
Better quit for now.......... Keep up the good work.
Thanks Ralph B.
