Mini GPK Reunion Directions

It seems that there were a number of folks that could not access my attachment so I will imbedd it into this e-mail, hope it works.
Direction to Saugeen Shores (Port Elgin)
Southampton, Port Elgin, and Saugeen Township have, within the past couple of years, amalgamated into the Town of Saugeen Shores, however, all three have managed to keep their own identities.

If you do a google search of Saugeen Shores and click on the first hit, you will get information on the area. Also click on "maps" and this will give three options, the larger map shows the highways for your convenience. I will attempt to give some more comprehensive directions. Mapquest may be a bit different.
Distance and Time to Saugeen Shores:
Kitchener/Waterloo 160km 2 hours
London 210km 2.5 hours
Barrie 165km 2.25 hours
Montreal 700km 8.5 hours
Hamilton 210km 2.5 hours
Toronto 230km 2.75 hours
Sarnia/Port Huron 230km 2.75 hours
Highway 21 runs through all three communities and starts in the north in Owen Sound. and ends around Sarnia.area.

From Kitchener/Waterloo: Take 86 North through Listowel, Wingham, to Amberley, this is where Highway 21 meets Highway 86, at the stop sign turn right, you are now on Highway 21 north. Stay on Highway 21 through Kincardine, Tiverton (in Tiverton there is a stop sign and you turn right to remain on Highway 21). The next decent size town is Port Elgin. Shortly after the 2nd set of traffic lights, you will see the Colonial Motel on your right.

From London: Take Highway 4 from London, heading north and this will take you straight through to Highway 21. You will see some huge windmills in the distance, there is a blue barn on your left. At the stop sign turn right and this will be Highway 21 north and follow this into Port Elgin. After the 2nd set of traffic lights, you will see the Colonial Motel on your right.

From Barrie: Follow Highway 26 north to Owen Sound (Highway 26 turns into 16th Street. In Owen Sound turn left onto 9th Ave E. Go to the next set of lights and turn right (west) onto 10 St W. Follow this street out of Owen Sound and it turns into Highway 21 South which will lead into Saugeen Shores (first you will see Southampton and then Port Elgin). There is the first set of lights at Legault’s Independant Grocery Store go through four more sets of lights and you will see a MacDonalds on your right, and on your left a few feet ahead is the Colonial Motel.

From Montreal: Take the 401 through Toronto to Highway 10 (also called Hurontario)in Mississauga . Travel north on Highway 10 through Caledon, Orangeville, Shelbourne, Flesherton Markdale, Chatsworth, Rockford, into Owen Sound and at the third set of traffic lights (Tim Horton’s on right) turn left onto 10St. W.

Sarnia/Port Huron: At the Port Huron border crossing you will be on Highway 402, east. Take the exit for Highway 21 north, I believe it is exit 31 or 34. At the stop sign from this exit is Highway 21, turn left for Highway 21 north. Travel on this Highway straight through to Port Elgin. Caution in FOrest, you will have to make a right turn at the lights to remain on Highway 21 (just watch the signs) Stay on this through Grand Bend, Dashwood, Bayfield, Goderich,, Kincardine, Tiverton (Caution at stop sign in Tiverton, turn right to remain on Highway 21 north). The next decent size town is Port Elgin. Shortly after the 2nd set of traffic lights, you will see the Colonial Motel on your right.
To get to my place from the Colonial Motel you turn left out of the motel and travel approx 10 kms. through two traffic lights, past Concession 4, Concession 2, County Road 11 (countyline between North Bruce and Saugeen Shores), The next road, Concession 12 (little brown church on the corner) you turn right (towards the lake) and we are the second property on the right. Yellow house, and barn with brown trim and fire # 1398.
I will provide the directions for the picnic at North Shore Park on Friday night as you will be more familar with Port Elgin at that point.

Additional Information: In Port Elgin, we have a Tim Hortons, laundromats, various discount stores and restaurants both fast food and fine dining, , Great Fish & Chip Place called Lord Elgins, three CHinese restaurants, KFC, MacDonalds, Subway, CIBC, Scotia Bank, Toronto Dominion, Beer Store, Liquor Store, etc.all on main Street (Highway 21 also called Goderich Street in Town). The Queens Hotel is also on the main street on the corner of Goderich and Gustavus Streets. (near Tim Horton’s) where we will be having dinner Saturday night and a dance to the oldies also brunch on Sunday.

The brunch is from 11:00 to 2:00 on Sunday art a cost of $12.99 per person and it is fabulous. I can check if they would put on a buffet for dinner on Saturday other than that it is off the menu which has quite a selection. Let me know if you are interested in a buffet and I will go with the majority. We had a buffet for my son’s wedding and the menu was: roast beef, chicken, lasagna, perogies, cabbage rolls, meatballs, shrimp, mussels, king crab legs, pizza, mixed vegetables (three choices) two types of potatoes, gravy, four different salads, rolls, and assorted dessert. I might be able to convince the owner to do the same if all agree and then I could get a firmed up price for the dinner buffet, failing that, as I mentioned we can all order off the menu.
