What's this flower?? (Answered)

This one has been in his garden for the past 18 years and is a ??_________ perennial..
John sent me both Hibiscus ( Maroon & White) but he wanted a more complete description.

Maybe we can get it right this time..

Hi Folks,
John McConachie sent these Hibiscus flower pictures from his garden. He wanted them to be called hardy perennials (Hibiscus). Thanks John for the fun we had with them.

Heather G is correct with her guess of the hibiscus being the dinner plate variety. My being particular about them being hardy perennials was to emphasize that if they can grow and survive the Ottawa winters they should be able to grow just about anywhere in the country.
