ERRATUM

HELLO MARSTON,
ON MONDAY'S BLOG JOHN McC HAD TERRENCE (TERRY) CAVERLY LIVING ON MURRAY AVE, NEVER.

ACROSS MURRAY FROM DAVID & PETER YOUNG, WERE THE GAUDRY'S -SYLVIA, ELSIE, ROBERTA, ONE SON WHO WAS KILLED DURING WW2, AND MAYBE ONE MORE SON.

JOHN WAS SORT OF IN THE RIGHT BALL PARK
THE GAUDRIES WERE TERRY'S GRAND PARENTS ON HIS MOTHER'S (ELSIE-GAUDRY-CAVERLY) TERRY LIVED ON DEVONSHIRE UNTIL IN THE LATE FIFTIES, WHEN THE CAVELY'S MOVED AWAY, HOUSE AND ALL, OVER TO PRINCESS BEHIND KEMPER'S. THEIR HOUSE IS STILL THERE, THE ONE BEHIND THE NEW MISS ITALIA.

WELL NOW THAT I'M ON THIS RECOLLECTION TANGENT, ON DEVONSHIRE ROAD, ST. LAMBERT SIDE. FROM CHURCHILL SOUTHWARD TO THE GOLF COURSE WERE THREE PLACES.

ACROSS FROM SMITH'S TRADING POST-THE ORIGINAL PENTACOSTAL CHURCH, LATER A JEHOVAH WITNESS HALL. UPSTAIRS WERE THE RIVERS FAMILY, A BOY, RONNY & 2 SISTERS.

ACROSS FROM COBB'S; THE COOTES, A FORMER MAYOR OF GREENFIELD PARK, TWO OF THEIR SONS WORKED FOR THE COUNTRY CLUB, WHEN NOT WORKING, WOULD BE IN A BACK ROOM OF THE TWO CAR GARAGE MAKING SURE THEIR BEER BOTTLE OPENERS WEREN'T GETTING RUSTY. PLUS THAT THE SUDS WERE OF THE UTMOST QUALITY, CARING PEOPLE EH.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST ACROSS FROM THE BALANGER'S, A SON OF THE OWNER OF MURRAY MEAT MARKET
WAS A BACHELOR, MR.MARTIN, HE LIVED UPSTAIRS AND RENTED THE LOWER PART.

IN THE MID FIFTIES
THE COMBER GANG MOVED IN MRS. EVA, PLUS SONS KENNY, GARRY AND SISTER DONNA. KENNY WAS OLDER THAN US, GARRY WAS OUR AGE AND WE ALL PLAYED TOGETHER UNTIL THEY MOVED AWAY OVER TO THE BARRACKS.

THE NEXT FAMILY TO MOVE IN AFTER THE COMBERS, THEIR NAME ESCAPES ME BUT I MEAN BUT FOR SURE,THEY WERE LIKE THE BEVERLY HILL FOLK, TOM SAWYER, HUCK FINN ALL ROLLED INTO THE TRAILER PARK BOYS. THE MAIN MODE OF TRANSPORT WAS LIGHT TRUCK SIMILAR TO HOLLANDRAKES WITH THE BACK END SAWED AND CHOPPED OFF TO FORM A RED NECK PICKUP.

STARTING MENT PUSHING , WE WERE OFTEN SHANGHIED INTO HELPING FOR THIS EVENT. WHAT AN IMPRESSION ON OUR PURE UNFORMED
PURE AS THE SNOW MINDS.

PERHAPS YOU REMEMBER SOME OF THIS MARSTON.
RICHARD W.............

Thanks Richard, I do remember that family that moved to the Combers place on Devonshire Rd. They may not have been from Alabama but were definitely related to some one from there.

I can’t remember the guys name but I remember he also had an old motorcycle (A Douglas I think) no mufflers and he used to kick up a storm up and down Devonshire.
He used to get gas at Charlie Banning’s Shell Station.

Further up on Devonshire on the St Lambert Side was the Hynes Family, I think that covers the St Lambert side of our street from Churchill to Simard Blvd
