Riverside Teachers Union Letter

February 29, 2008

Mr. Bernie Constantini
City of Longueuil
Borough of Greenfield Park
Churchill Boulevard
Greenfield Park

Mr. Constantini,

It has come to our attention that Greenfield Park has accepted the opening of the Sexoduim on Churchill Boulevard. Is this what is meant by the City of Longueuil when they promote the renewal of Churchill Boulevard? It is also our understanding that a local “massage parlour” is also a front for activities of a similar nature. Also of note, is the recent opening of a sex-oriented restaurant on Taschereau Boulevard. If sexual exploitation is the orientation the City of Longueuil has chosen for the borough of Greenfield Park, one has to wonder where the local representatives were when that decision was taken.

As a teachers’ union we must go on record as being adamantly opposed to this type of business being allowed in this area. We note that the area in close proximity to this establishment includes your arena, your library, several of your playing fields, as well as schools and daycares and our offices. The Executive of the Riverside Teachers’ Union on behalf of our members are appalled that the City of Longueuil and the Borough of Greenfield Park permit this situation to exist. Many of the children our members teach, live in Greenfield Park: surely the local Longueuil representatives are aware that this new business approach goes against everything our schools stand for.

Sincerely yours,

Michel Gagnon
Riverside Teachers Union

cc. Claude Gladu, maire de Longueuil

Thanks Normand
