France 1944

THE NAME OF THE VILLAGE IS ORADOUR-SUR-GLANE IN THE REGION OF LIMOUSIN IN FRANCE .

NORMAND

HI MARTY, HERE IS WHAT ROSS MORLEY HAD TO SAY AFTER SEING THE TOUCHING PICTURES OF ORADOUR IN FRANCE. MAYBE ADD THAT TO THE BLOG WITH THE OTHER PICTURES OF ORADOUR.

THANKS MARTY

NORMAND SIMARD THIS DOCUMENTARY REALLY TOUCHES ME. IT IS TERRIBLE WHAT THE NAZIS DID, TO DEFENSELESS PEOPLE OF ORADOUR.

Subject: Re:Oradour FROM ROSS MORLEY
Really a soul touching documentary about this town. It really makes one think what the SS really had in mind. My wife Marlene has many Dutch (Netherlands) relatives as this is where her family is from.

If you only knew what the SS (Reich) did to these people it would make you cry. Her Aunt Hassina lost many of her childhood friends and neighbours in and around Zaan & Zaandyke in Holland because of the Nazis.

She came to live in Greenfield Park in the 60's and never spoke to a German person here whether they were born here or not, until her death at 87 years of age. She never forgave the Nazis for what they did to the Dutch people. Her brother, Cornelus, (Marlene's father) helped liberate Holland during WW2.

He was awarded the Dutch Medal of Remembrance by the Ambassador of Holland along with many others here in Greenfield Park at the Cynthia Coull Arena. The Dutch people Never forgot what the Canadian soldiers did for their people and their country. This is still the case in 2008. Ross

Thanks Normand S. & Ross M.
It is important to Remember and that is the reason I am posting them. I do not want this to become a Political Issue on this blog..
