Hi everyone,
I’m Betty, Red’s wife of 43 years. I just got the email and I wanted to let you know that Red is alive and doing fairly well. Just finished a bout with prostate cancer, but the prognosis is good. He will be so thrilled when I get home and show him the email and the blog and will refresh old memories and will get him to write something that I can type and email to you guys. He doesn’t do the email, web thingie, as he is afraid of the computer!!
He is now 68 years old last week, quit hockey due to the cancer, only tries a little on the guitar as he lost most of one finger in a work-related accident in 1980 but he is happy. We are grandparents (we have three sons) and nine (9) grandchildren. Christmas is at our house this year and ALL the kids (ours) their wives and the 9 kids will be with us for about two weeks.
We now live in North Lancaster , Ontario . The address is 21860 Concession 4 Road, North Lancaster , Ontario K0C 1Z0 . Out in the boon docks. We bought a farm and no, we are not farming, but Red is in his glory because now he has many, many, buildings to rebuild. We did the house first, then my two storey workshop which used to be the grain shed, he has redone a good portion of the barn into his workshop, but that is now getting too small so he wants to do the round building by putting down a heated cement pad and insulating and then …… (the round building, I believe is called a quanset hut???
He is still 6’2” tall and weighs about 228 lbs and our grandchildren LOVE their Papa.
Will get back to you as this is only an outline of what is to come.
Red has been looking for Stan Sheppard for years now and to find out that he is well will make his day. Have a great day all of you and since I don’t really know you (except Stan) I wish you all the best for the Christmas season and a very healthy, happy and prosperous New Year.
