Blog News from Chicagoland

Hi Folks,
Sorry I couldn't finish posting on Friday. We had severe storms through here that blew down trees and power lines. We had a tree fall through our roof at home and has done quite a bit of damage.

We are without power now for 25 hours both at home and at the RV Park

I'll catch up in a day or two..

Mosquito Spray

Worth a tryI was at a deck party awhile back, and the bugs were having a ball biting everyone. A man at the party sprayed the lawn and deck floor with Listerine, and the little demons disappeared. The next year I filled a 4-ounce spray bottle and used it around my seat whenever I saw mosquitoes. And voila!
That worked as well. It worked at a picnic where we sprayed the area around the food table, the children's swing area, and the standing water nearby. During the summer, I don't leave home without it..... Pass it on!OUR FRIEND'S COMMENTS: I tried this on my deck and around all of my doors. It works - in fact, it killed them instantly.
I bought my bottle from Target and it cost me $1.89. It really doesn't take much, and it is a big bottle, too; so it is not as expensive to use as the can of Bug-spray you buy that doesn't last 30 minutes. So, try this, please. It will last a couple of days. Don't spray directly on a wood door (like your front door), but spray around the frame. Spray around the window frames, and even inside the dog house.

Thanks Jim E.

Remembering those X-Ray Machines

Hi Marty;

Yes I remember putting my feet in one of those foot X-ray machines. I
think it was at one of the big dept stores on St Catherines St. I'm
sure our feet and probably most of the rest of our bodies got a huge
dose of radiation. Imagine how much the salesman got being around the
machine all day. Another one of the many hazards of growing up in the
50's. Somehow we survived!

John P

Thanks John
I remember Taylor’s Store in St Lambert had one as well.

X-Ray Machines

Hi Normand,

Believe me when I tell you it was not long ago I was telling my daughter in law about the shoe store x-ray machine. I remember it well. We thought it was neat to see our feet in the machine.

Today's Animals

Thanks Lou N.

Need some Health News on Ted N.

Dear Mr North,
I am writing to you to see if you can give me any information on how Ted Newbury is progressing after his recent heart attack. I knew Ted and his family in 1948 and spent many happy times with them in Greenfield Park.I think at that time they lived on Empire Ave.Their mum died and their dad remarried a widow with a son Jimmy. There were four in the family,Ted,Ethel,Sister, and I am not to sure if they had a brother or a sister.I would appreciate any info you can give me on how Ted is doing.I am just learning the computor business and after punching in Greenfield Park I came across your web site. From then on I looked up Ted and that is how I found out that he had a heart attack.Sorry to be a pest,I am enclosing my e-mail address if you do find out anything new regarding Ted's health.
Sincerely Greta Gamey.
P.S.I really did enjoy reading all your e-mails ectre and looking at the pictures.

Thanks Greta,
Does anyone have any information on Ted Newbury’s Health, then pls e-mail me and I will pass the information on to Greta Gamey
