This is an old trophy found by Bob Greening of St-Lambert who was a coach for the South Shore Intermediate Hockey Team. He found it in his basement in a box and found out it was presented to John McConachie for "Best Defenceman" during the 1965-66 hockey season.
The trophy was donated by Castonguay Sports of St-Lambert. He has now given me the trophy to give to John after all these years in storage. The photo is of John Riley & Bob Greening when we met a Trios Restaurant on Victoria to see all the old photos of the guys from the park that played on this team.
George Graham, George Hollingdrake, Charlie Menary, Cliff Barfoot, Mike Jenkins and so on. He has some great photos. I think one of the photos appeared in your blog with John being presented with this same trophy. Now after all these years he can finally have it to keep. By the way, Bob Greening (83)is still actively involved in hockey.
This guy is something else and certainly a wealth of information. He told us some great stories about the team. The best one being why he got George Graham to play for him. Any guesses why? We certainly had some great athletes in the park.
What a great town to have grown up in.
