Looking for Bloggers input and Help

By the way and as a different topic,  I have been cycling around the park trails out here now for the last 5 years. I rack up quite a number of kms doing so ( between 3000 and 4000 kms every year)and have tried to think of another way to express those distances to keep from being bored.. I wondered for instance if I tracked those same kilometers but in distance across a map of Canada, could it be an incentive to keep going and see how far I get..

Then it occurred to me that it might be a great incentive if I set as a time goal and final destination, the Reunion in Greenfield Park in 2011. As that crystallized I wondered if I could in fact do a virtual bike ride from my home in Medicine Hat to Greenfield Park and submit a weekly journal of it to your blog.

There are a few considerations

Even though I have travelled this route by car numerous times, How could I get pictures of the route to go with the ride, stops, towns special sites, etc? Most larger towns on route have a web site with heaps of information..A lot missing in between even if I tweaked it with my imagination.. Might be interesting to some people

Are there people who visit your blog living along the route that I could virtually visit with?

Would there be any one else interested in joining me from where ever they may live to Greenfield Park( even our friend in Australia?) Walking? jogging? Skating? Electric motor scooter? Boating? They could do the same process of keeping their local miles and translating them into road miles towards the Park?

What happens at the finish when I arrive virtually but not actually? could I have a virtual welcoming?

What do you think and have you got any suggestions? Do you think you should post this idea on the blog to see if others might have suggestions?

 As usual

 Doug G

Thanks Doug,

I hope we get some suggestions and participants for your virtual trip.
