Thanks to Linda for having a very good guess about the flower and full marks for a very imaginative name! A Freudian slip perhaps?
It is somewhat like a bottlebrush but is actually a Banksia - named after Joseph Banks who was the botanist on Cook's voyage of discovery. He discovered so many plants not previously seen by Europeans that the place was named Botany Bay. There are many varieties of Banksias and here is one growing in our front garden. Also here is a bottlebrush for comparison.
