Church Memories

Hi Marty,

I read with interest Normand's posting about the Pentecostal Church on Churchill Blvd. My sister Rosalyn lived a life of religious ambiguity. Roz was an only child born to Catholic parents. I on the other hand was an only child born to Catholic and Protestant parents. For many years Roz and I joked about being the "only child". It is what made us brother and sister. Rosalyn's mother passed away shortly after Roz's birth and dad married the woman who bore me.

That being said, my mom and her family were ideological Protestants who devoted their life to bringing Catholics to the true word of Jesus Christ. This was not a marriage made in heaven.

Both Roz and I were raised in a French Protestant atmosphere of religious dominance.

When Roz met and married Dave Snyder she reverted back to her Catholic beginnings. At some point in her life Roz lacked religious fulfillment and turned to the Pentecostal Church, the same church we see in Normand's submission. After Davids death the Catholic Church offered Roz many opportunities to expand her religious beliefs.

Roz was always a devoted Christian who never imposed her beliefs upon others.....
