I’m really looking forward to seeing Winston's pictures when he gets back from his trip down east. I do hope he does get to see the Iceburg's . I have , and they are enormus.
Back in the 80's when I was a Money Market trader my biggest accounts were from the Maritimes.
I made a lot of friends and still am in contact with a few. One of my buddies from Dartmouth who worked for the Province of Nova Scotia, lives in Dartmouth, has one of the nicest locations for a cottage on the Northumberland Straight and is on one of the best private beaches near Pugwash on the SunRise Trail. From his place on a clear day you can see Confederation Bridge and sometimes PEI . Water is always at 70° in the summer. No need to go South of NYC. Odette and I were down there again about 5 years ago.
I used to get down to the maritimes 3 to 4 times a year and can assure you I had a blast each time I was there.
Newfoundland is great place and as with everywhere on the East Coast the people are really friendly and easy to get along with. I have seen some of Eastern Newfoundland and on occasion got a tour by "Uncle Harry's School Bus" from Deer Lake or Gander when the flight couldn't get into St-John's. I particularly liked the "Tuna Fishing trip" (LOL) that the boys from the Province used to invite us to in late July. Out of 8 invites I had , we only got out on the Ocean 3 times. All the other times we had some kind of "TUNA" activity to kill off the week-end.(LOL)
On one particular trip ,I got what the locals called , "Screeched in". This involved putting on some Cod fisherman slicks, boots and all and singing 2 choruses of "I'se the Bye that builds the boats " and kissing the Cod and slugging down some real Screech. (See pictures attached) Then got an official honorary CFA (come from away) certificate signed by then Premier Brian Peckford along with a Newfounland coat of arms pin. Now forever an Honorary "Newfie".Later that weekend I got a lesson in how to make real Screech, not the LBO version. (You could peel the paint off a house with the real stuff (LOL).
I have a lot more stories from down east but will save them for another time.

Thanks Ivan
