George Remembered

Hi Marty,

I considered George Sweeney a good friend. The last time I saw him was at the GFPK reunion in greenfield Park two years ago. Although we had not seen each other in more than thirty years our meeting that day was as if time had stood still. George was one of those people who always gave more than he received. An individual who always wore a smile and always had a joke and I never remember him getting angry.

His greatest attribute however was his self-deprecating humour. Although an accomplished and successful plumber, George always referred to himself as a shithouse commando. Greenfield Park is a better place for having had George as a member of the community and so good friend, my Irish wish for you is " that you be a half hour in heaven before the devil knows you're dead".
