MONTREAL - Police raided two suspected illegal gaming houses in Longueuil early Friday and arrested two men on charges of drug trafficking.

Longueuil police lead the operation, in collaboration with the Montérégie-area police street gang task force.

Alerted by neighbours' complaints, police raided two homes at 1:30 a.m. on Beauregard St. in Old Longueuil and Springfield St. in Greenfield Park. Officers seized three gaming tables, three TVs, drug paraphenalia, gambling items, such as cards and tokens, as well as accounting equipment.

No one was in the two homes at the time of the raid, police said. But two men were arrested in Montreal in connection with the investigation into illegal gambling and drugs.

The investigation continues today, with a view to making further arrests, police said.
