This old bus which runs on used vegetable oil was one of the first things that caught our eye upon arriving in Bonavista - a man and wife and a couple of kids all the way from the Yukon - that's one very long trip - they had been on the road for months!!
John Cabot landed at this spot in 1497 - that's still 500 years after the Vikings!! - The flag in the wood case is the original Newfoundland flag - the one used prior to joining Canadian Confederation in 1949. - The boats in the harbour were some of the nicest we had seen up to that time on our trip.
Just as we left Bonavista we entered Dungeon Provincial Park - It has sheep and cows and other critters roaming around - We spotted a couple of horses on the side of the gravel road - We both lowered our windows and Colleen made a clicking noise with her mouth - immediately one of those horses headed over to the car, looked in and then proceeded to stick his whole head into my lap - I cracked him on the nose and he backed off - then he stuck his head in the back window and Colleen fed him an apple - He obviously is very comfortable with people, just like a big friendly dog. This was but one of many surprises we had on our trip!!
Later............Win
Thanks Win
