LEST WE FORGET

THEY SHALL GROW NOT OLD

AS WE THAT ARE LEFT GROW OLD .

AGE SHALL NOT WEARY THEM

NOR THE YEARS CONDEMN.

AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN

AND IN THE MORNING

WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.

LEST WE FORGET. (ANONYMOUS)

IN HIGH FLIGHT

OH! I HAVE SLIPPED THE SURLY BONDS OF EARTH

AND DANCED THE SKIES ON LAUGHTER SILVERED WINGS:

SUNWARD I'VE CLIMBED, AND JOINED THE TUMBLING MIRTH

OF SUN-SPLIT CLOUDS-- AND DONE A HUNDRED THINGS

YOU HAVE NOT DREAMED OF- WHEELED AND SOARED AND SWUNG

HIGH IN THE SUNLIT SILENCE. HOV'RING THERE,

I'VE CHASED THE SHOUTING WIND ALONG, AND FLUNG

MY EAGER CRAFT THROUGH FOOTLESS HALLS OF AIR.

UP, UP THE LONG DELIRIOUS, BURNING BLUE

I'VE TOPPED THE WINDSWEPT HEIGHT WITH EASY GRACE,

WHERE NEVER LARK, OR EVEN EAGLE FLEW.

AND WHILE WITH SILENT, LIFTING MIND I'VE TROD

THE HIGH UNTRESPASSED SANCTITY OF SPACE,

PUT OUT MY HAND, AND TOUCHED THE FACE OF GOD.

RCAF PILOT OFFICER JOHN GILLESPIE MAGEE

DIED DEC.11 1941 AGE 19

A SOLDIER'S PRAYER

LORD BLESS THE WIVES WHO GRIEVE ALONE,

AND COMFORT THE MOTHERS WHO MOURN THEIR OWN.

GIVE SOLACE TO THE FATHERS WHO LOST THEIR SONS

ON FOREIGN SHORES AND IN PLACES UNKNOWN.

LORD, STRENGTHEN THE RESOLVE OF WE WHO REMAIN

TO SEE THAT THEY DID NOT DIE IN VAIN

Maj. Gen James B. Middleton

Thanks John McC.
